Frequently Asked Questions

DLH is a supportive living environment designed to help individuals in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) maintain sobriety and rebuild their lives. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and compassionate community where residents can focus on their recovery journey.

Eligibility is generally open to individuals who are:

  • In recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Committed to maintaining sobriety.
  • Willing to participate in the house standards and adhere to its rules.
  • Recommended or referred by a healthcare provider or recovery program.

Resident requirements:

  • Maintain sobriety (regular drug and alcohol testing may be conducted).
  • Participate in house meetings and recovery-related activities.
  • Respect other residents, staff, and property.
  • Follow curfew and quiet hours.
  • Participate in household chores and maintain cleanliness.
  • Follow any additional guidelines outlined in the resident agreement.

We provide:

  • Peer support and recovery coaching.
  • Access to counseling and mental health services.
  • Job readiness and life skills training.
  • Peer-led groups and 12-step meetings.
  • Connection to community resources and social services.

Residents must inform staff of all prescribed medications. Medications are to be securely stored and taken as prescribed. Staff may assist with medication management to ensure adherence and prevent misuse.

Yes, a curfew is in place to ensure the safety and structure of the recovery environment. Curfew times may vary based on the program phase, but it typically starts at 10 PM on weekdays and 11 PM on weekends.

Visitors are allowed during designated visiting hours. All visitors must be approved by staff in advance and adhere to the house rules. Overnight guests are not permitted.

Residents are encouraged to pursue employment, education, or volunteer opportunities as part of their recovery journey. We provide resources and support to help residents achieve these goals.

While our goal is to support ongoing sobriety, we understand that relapse can be a part of the recovery process. If a relapse occurs, the resident may be asked to leave the house temporarily or permanently depending on the situation. We work with each resident to develop a plan for re-entry if possible, including referrals to additional treatment if necessary.

We take residents’ privacy seriously. Every intention is made to keep all personal information and discussions held within the house confidential in accordance with DLH regulations and policies.

Length of stay is individualized based on each resident’s progress and needs. DLH strongly recommends residents stay between 3 to 12 months. The goal is to provide support until the resident feels confident in their ability to maintain sobriety independently.

To apply, please fill out our online application or contact our admissions office directly. We will schedule an interview to discuss your needs and determine if our program is a good fit.

We offer alumni support and aftercare programs to help former residents transition back into the community. This includes ongoing peer support, access to resources, and opportunities to stay connected with the DLRH community.
